Lettering

Okay, so I was browsing Tumblr and Pinterest last night when I happened upon "lettering" posts. While this form of art wasn't new to me, I felt a new sense of motivation upon seeing them. I Googled other samples and finally got a hold of some quotes that I wanted to get started on. Just a few hours ago, I finished (well, I'm not sure it is but I don't know what else to add to it) my first piece.

Quote: "Bloom where you are planted."

I used my new Sakura Pocket Field Sketch Box (which a friend brought from Manila since we don't have it anywhere in Naga) for the roses and leaves, and though I know they're far from perfect, I'm quite satisfied with the way it turned out. I used to beat myself for not being able to do it perfectly the first time, but I've come to terms with the fact that beautiful art doesn't happen overnight. I have to work for it and make sure to hone my skills to get better, and I'm doing that right now.
I want to start a 30 Day Challenge for lettering, but given my history with these things, I better hold back for a moment longer. I might do a different one instead.

A lot has happened since my graduation, but some things are best kept private. You can be sure though that I can cross out at least one thing from my bucket list again. ;)
